Hollie is our acupuncturist at The Good Joint, graduating from Endeavour College of Natural Health with a Bachelor of Health Science (Acupuncture Therapies). Having been a part of the team during her final years of study she has worked closely with our practitioners, learning from their experience and growing her enthusiasm and knowledge.

Hollie blends traditional Chinese medicine frameworks with Western biomedical understanding to create comprehensive, individualised treatment plans. While she enjoys treating musculoskeletal conditions, Hollie also has a particular interest in women’s health and stress-related conditions. With a warm, caring nature, she is passionate about supporting her patients to feel heard, supported, and empowered through their treatment journey.

Our acupuncture treatments combine traditional techniques with modern understanding to support pain relief, recovery and overall balance.
Acupuncture
A traditional therapy using very fine sterile needles placed at specific points on the body to regulate the nervous system reduce pain and support the body’s natural healing processes.
Electroacupuncture
A gentle electrical current is applied to acupuncture needles to enhance their effect commonly used to relieve pain reduce inflammation and support muscle and nerve function.
Chinese Remedial Massage (Tui Na)
A hands-on therapeutic massage using traditional Chinese techniques to mobilise joints release muscle tension and support natural balance combined with elements of Western soft tissue release.
Cupping Therapy
A traditional technique using suction or heat to lift and mobilise tissues helping improve circulation relieve muscle tension and support recovery.
Gua Sha
A traditional therapy using a smooth-edged tool to gently scrape the skin promoting circulation and easing muscle tension.
Chinese Herbal Medicine Formula Prescription
Traditional herbal formulas dispensed in convenient capsule or tablet form to support natural balance wellbeing and internal healing.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR FIRST VISIT
✔ Comprehensive Health Assessment – Discussion of health history, current symptoms, lifestyle factors and treatment goals
✔ Physical Assessment – Pulse and tongue analysis as part of Chinese medicine diagnosis, with functional testing used where needed to assess contributing factors
✔ Treatment – Hands-on treatment which may include acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping therapy and Chinese remedial massage (Tui Na). Chinese herbal medicine formulas may also be prescribed depending on symptoms
✔ Follow-Up & Ongoing Support – Follow-up consultations aligned with your treatment plan to assess progress, lifestyle changes and Chinese herbal formulas where applicable

How do I book an acupuncture appointment?
Booking an acupuncture consultation at The Good Joint is easy. You can call our friendly team on 07 5651 6594 or request an appointment online via our acupuncture booking form. Hollie, our degree-qualified acupuncturist, consults from our Mermaid Beach clinic.
What does an acupuncturist do?
An acupuncturist is a trained health professional who uses fine sterile needles at specific points on the body to support healing and restore balance. Acupuncture may assist with pain, stress, hormonal and digestive concerns, sleep issues and overall wellbeing while considering lifestyle, nervous system health and the body as a whole.
Do I need a referral to see an acupuncturist?
No referral is required. You can book directly with Hollie without needing to see your GP first, making it easy to get started with a natural and holistic approach to care.
What happens during an acupuncture session?
Your initial consultation focuses on understanding the bigger picture including your health history, current symptoms and lifestyle factors. From there, a personalised treatment plan is created which may include acupuncture, cupping therapy, Chinese remedial massage (Tui Na), Chinese herbal medicine formulas and lifestyle advice.
How long are acupuncture appointments?
Initial acupuncture consultations run for 60 minutes to allow time for assessment and treatment. Follow-up appointments are typically 45 to 60 minutes depending on your treatment plan.
Can I claim acupuncture through private health insurance?
Many private health funds offer rebates for acupuncture under extras cover. We recommend checking your individual policy prior to your appointment. Detailed invoices are provided for claiming.
Are acupuncture appointments covered by DVA or WorkCover?
At this time, acupuncture is not covered under DVA or WorkCover. Some clients still choose to attend privately as part of their overall care plan, and we are happy to work alongside your GP or medical specialists where appropriate.
Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
Yes, acupuncture is a safe and natural way to support both mother and baby during pregnancy. It may help manage pregnancy-related symptoms, support emotional wellbeing and prepare the body for labour. Acupuncture can also be beneficial during the post-partum period to assist with recovery.
