Gold Coast Osteopathy

At The Good Joint, we provide osteopathy for patients across the Gold Coast from our clinic in Mermaid Beach. Our osteopaths help with back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, postural strain, joint stiffness and muscle tension. Whether your symptoms come from sport, work, daily stress or ongoing movement issues, we focus on understanding the cause of the problem and creating a treatment plan that supports long-term improvement.

Osteopathy looks at how the body’s muscles, joints, spine and connective tissues work together. Through a detailed assessment, we identify movement restrictions, areas of tension and functional imbalances that may be contributing to pain or reduced mobility. Treatment may include hands-on osteopathic techniques, soft tissue therapy, joint mobilisation and tailored exercises to help improve movement and support recovery.

Located in Mermaid Beach and serving the wider Gold Coast, The Good Joint offers evidence-based osteopathic care designed to reduce pain, improve function and help you move with more confidence. Whether you are dealing with ongoing tension, recovering from strain or trying to stay active without discomfort, our team is here to help.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS OSTEOPATHY

What is the difference between an osteopath and a chiropractor?

Both are university-trained, AHPRA-registered practitioners who treat muscle and joint problems. Osteopaths tend to use a broader mix of hands-on techniques across the whole body, including soft tissue work, stretching and joint mobilisation, while chiropractors often focus more on spinal adjustments. At The Good Joint we offer both under one roof, so if another approach suits your condition better, we can refer you internally after your assessment.

What happens at my first osteopathy appointment?

Your initial consultation runs for 45 minutes. Your osteopath will take a detailed history, assess your movement and posture, and perform any testing needed to understand the cause of your symptoms. Treatment usually begins in the same session, and you will leave with a clear plan for what comes next.

What conditions do osteopaths treat?

Our osteopaths commonly treat:

  • Back and neck pain
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Sciatica
  • Joint stiffness
  • Postural issues
  • Sports injuries

Care is tailored to enhance movement and reduce discomfort, helping you return to your favourite activities.

How many osteopathy sessions will I need?

It depends on your condition, how long you have had it, and how your body responds to treatment. Your osteopath will discuss a recommended plan after your initial assessment and review it with you as you progress, so you are never locked into a set number of visits.

Is osteopathy safe during pregnancy?

Yes. Osteopathic care can be safe and gentle during pregnancy. We use pregnancy-specific techniques and positioning to help manage back pain, pelvic discomfort and postural tension, and to support your comfort through pregnancy and postpartum recovery.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No referral is needed and you can book directly at any time. If you are attending under WorkCover, DVA, or another third-party provider, please bring your relevant documentation to your first session.

Can I use private health insurance?

Yes! Osteopathic care is usually covered under most private health insurance extras. We offer instant claiming via HICAPS, so you only pay the gap on the day of your appointment.

Do you accept WorkCover and DVA referrals?

Yes. If you have an approved WorkCover claim and a current medical certificate, your osteopathic sessions may be fully funded, and DVA card holders with a valid GP referral may be eligible for fully covered care. We coordinate directly with your case manager or DVA to keep the process simple.
