No. You can book directly with Hollie without a referral. If you are already working with a GP or specialist, we are happy to work alongside them.
Hollie will take a full history, talk through what you are experiencing and what you would like to work on, and assess anything relevant. From there she will explain her findings and, with your agreement, begin treatment in the same visit.
Your initial consultation allows time for a thorough history, assessment and treatment. Follow-up appointments are shorter. Exact times are listed when you book online.
Acupuncture needles are very fine — far finer than the needles used for injections. Most people feel little more than a light tap, sometimes followed by a dull or heavy sensation around the point. Tell Hollie at any time if something does not feel comfortable.
Many private health funds include acupuncture under extras cover. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover, so it is worth checking with them directly before your visit.
Depending on what is appropriate for you, a session may include acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, Chinese remedial massage (Tui Na), gua sha, or Chinese herbal medicine. Everything is explained before it is used.
