FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS – NATUROPATHY
How do I book a naturopathy appointment?
Booking a naturopathy consult at The Good Joint is easy. You can call our friendly team on 0493 711 967 or request an appointment online via our naturopathy booking form. Prue, our degree-qualified naturopath, sees clients in our Burleigh Heads clinic and online via telehealth across Australia.
What does a naturopath do?
A naturopath uses natural therapies to treat the root cause of health issues, rather than just masking symptoms. Prue combines herbal medicine, clinical nutrition, lifestyle advice, and functional testing to create personalised treatment plans. Naturopathy is suitable for a wide range of concerns, from hormone imbalances and chronic stress, to gut health, skin conditions, low immunity, and more.
Do I need a referral to see a naturopath?
No referral is needed. You can book a session directly with Prue, our clinical naturopath, without needing to visit your GP first. If you're seeking a natural, holistic health solution, you can get started straight away.
What happens during a naturopathy session?
Your first consult with Prue is a deep-dive into your health history, current symptoms, lifestyle and diet. From there, she’ll design a tailored naturopathic treatment plan that may include herbal medicine, dietary guidance, lifestyle support, and functional testing if needed. Every plan is specific to you and your body, no cookie-cutter advice here.
How long are naturopathy appointments?
Your initial naturopathic consultation is 60 minutes, giving Prue time to fully understand your needs and begin building your treatment strategy. Follow-up sessions are usually 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the complexity of your case and progress.
Can I claim naturopathy through private health insurance?
Some private health funds do offer rebates for naturopathy under extras cover. While government policy changes have affected some eligibility, it's worth checking directly with your health insurer to confirm if you're covered. We provide detailed invoices for claiming directly.
Are naturopathy appointments covered by DVA or WorkCover?
At present, naturopathy is not covered under DVA or WorkCover schemes. However, many clients still choose to book privately as part of their wellness journey. We’re always happy to work alongside your GP or medical specialists if you're under a broader care plan.
Do you offer online naturopathy consults?
Yes – we offer telehealth naturopathy sessions for clients across Queensland and beyond. You’ll receive a secure video link for your session, and all recommendations, prescriptions, and testing referrals will be emailed to you afterward. Remote care with Prue offers the same in-depth support as in-clinic appointments, with the flexibility of staying home.
