Meet Scott
About Dr Scott Hutchinson
Scott is an osteopath with more than 20 years of experience in movement, performance and coaching. He works with people who want to stay active, move freely and keep doing what they love without being held back by pain or stiffness.
He combines hands-on osteopathic treatment with mobility training, joint-focused rehabilitation and strength-based movement, helping people build strong, resilient bodies for the long term.
Scott's story
Movement first, for the long term
Before and alongside osteopathy, Scott spent two decades coaching movement and performance. That experience taught him that pain is often a sign the body is not coping with what is being asked of it, and that the answer usually involves both treatment and better movement.
Using osteopathic principles that link structure, function and overall health, he looks beyond the sore spot to understand why the body is not moving efficiently. He is particularly interested in how stress, sleep, recovery and lifestyle influence pain and performance.
Scott lives locally in Mermaid Beach and spends his spare time surfing and training, so he understands the physical demands Gold Coast locals place on their bodies.

Questions
Seeing Scott: common questions
What is the difference between an osteopath and a chiropractor?
Both treat musculoskeletal problems with hands-on care. Scott's style combines osteopathic techniques with a strong focus on mobility and strength work. If another practitioner would suit you better, the team will tell you.
Will I need to do exercises?
Usually, yes. Scott believes the hands-on work and the movement work go together, so you will leave with a few targeted exercises.
Can I claim on private health insurance?
Yes, if your extras cover includes osteopathy. We claim on the spot in the clinic, so you only pay the gap. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online or by calling 07 5651 6594. If you have scans, reports or a GP letter, bring them along.
Where is the clinic and when is it open?
Good Joint is at 2563 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach, a short drive from Broadbeach, Miami and Burleigh Heads. We are open Monday to Friday, 7:15am to 6:30pm.
