Meet Julie
About Dr Julie Paturau
Julie is a chiropractor who brings first-hand experience of elite sport to her work. She competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, and she holds a Bachelor of Science in Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Clinical Chiropractic from Murdoch University in Perth.
Her areas of interest are women's health, including chiropractic care during pregnancy, and paediatric care, including children with scoliosis. She also sees athletes and anyone with everyday back, neck and joint pain.
Julie's story
From Mauritius to the Olympics to Mermaid Beach
Julie grew up on the small island of Mauritius and went on to compete as a professional athlete, including at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Training and competing at that level taught her how the body responds to load, fatigue and injury, and how much the right support matters when you are trying to get back to what you love.
She studied chiropractic at Murdoch University in Perth, completing a Bachelor of Science in Chiropractic and a Bachelor of Clinical Chiropractic. At Good Joint she combines that clinical training with her experience as an athlete.
Julie believes people should understand what is going on in their own bodies. She takes time to explain her findings and gives you the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about your health, so the benefits last beyond the treatment room.

Questions
Seeing Julie: common questions
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy?
Julie uses gentle techniques and positioning suited to each stage of pregnancy. She will ask about your pregnancy and any advice from your midwife or obstetrician before treating, and will refer back to them if anything needs checking.
Can Julie see my child?
Yes. Julie sees children and teenagers with musculoskeletal concerns such as back pain, sport injuries and scoliosis. A parent or guardian attends every appointment.
Can I claim on private health insurance?
Yes, if your extras cover includes chiropractic. We claim on the spot in the clinic, so you only pay the gap. Your rebate depends on your fund and level of cover.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online or by calling 07 5651 6594. If you have scans, reports or a GP letter, bring them along.
Where is the clinic and when is it open?
Good Joint is at 2563 Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach, a short drive from Broadbeach, Miami and Burleigh Heads. We are open Monday to Friday, 7:15am to 6:30pm.
